The Ed.D. Program applied for accreditation to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in the fall of 2001. The SACS visitation team made several recommendations for the program, which were addressed in a follow-up report completed in the spring of 2002. The program was fully and unconditionally SACS accredited in late spring of 2002.
The faculty is committed to the continuous improvement of the program. The program evaluation process, provides a graphic display of the systematic process by which continual effectiveness of the program is ensured.
In Spring 2004, the College of Education and the doctoral program in school improvement underwent routine review by Georgia's Professional Standards Commission (PSC) and The National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Ed.D. program was approved by the PSC, and the College of Education is currently unconditionally accredited by NCATE.
